Saudi Arabia: Ralph DSouza, Pramila Rodrigues enter GVOM finals


Dammam, Oct 3: The semi-final round of the Gulf Voice of Mangalore Season 5 was a total package of fun and entertainment and stiff competition among singers that ended with a nail biting finish. The recipients of the "Voice of Arabia" title are Ralph Paul D’Souza, Milagres Mangalore and Pramila Rodrigues, Udupi. They were crowned by Kevin and Muriel Nazareth. Ralph won the judges and the audience with his song "Angelina" and Pramila with her selection of "Cho'li".

The GVOM 2016 semi-final was organized by Aangann Konknnechem Riyadh on Friday September 30. The winners will now expand their horizon of singing talent and put their skills to test at the grand finale which will be held on 11th November in Bahrain.

Vishwa Konkani Kala Ratn Bab Eric Ozario from Mangalore and Golden Voice Dream Boy Rony D’Cunha from Kuwait were the judges at GVOM semi-finals in Dammam.

The programme was compered by Dony Correa from Dubai, who added much charm to the event with his dashing and enigmatic style, and announced the opening of GVOM 2016 semi-final in Dammam. He made a grand entry to the beat of music, accompanied by a thunderous applause from the audience. The programme began with a welcome dance by Stevina D’Souza, Palimar, Prayer by Richard Cardin and Steevan and Bharatnatyam dance performance by Sharon and Shalom Fernandes Shirthady, Vanessa and Vance sang Konkni Aamchi Maibas composed and tuned by Edwin Pinto Balehonnur followed by a welcome speech by the AKR Gurkar Arun D'souza Palimar.











































































 
The Sponsors Kevin and Muriel Nazareth, Vincent Sequeira, Lancy Lasrado from Plan-Tech Arabian Co. Ltd Jubail, Allen and Carol D’Souza and Arun D'Souza lighted the lamp and inaugurated the competition.

The six female contestants were Chinnu D’Souza (Mogarnad), Veena D’Souza (Anjalore), Jacintha Nazareth (Bajpe), Pramila Rodrigues (Udupi), Babitha Rodrigues (Brahmavar) and Gretta Sequeira (Paladka) along with six male contestants Ralph Paul D’Souza (Milagres Mangalore), Valerian Nelson Moras (Milagres), Naveen Lewis (Sastan), Sandeep Vijay Crasta (Siddakatte), Steevan Pradeep Barboza (Loretto) and Gerald Rodrigues (Gurpur) were escorted to the stage by the Vice President Carol and Arun D’Souza of Aangann team along with coordinators Naveen Melwyn D’Souza, Ronald Fernandes, Richard Cardin, Richard Rodrigues and Roshan Rodrigues.

Our Local MC Wilson Crasta introduced the Compere for the evening Dony Correa briefly to the audience and from there on Donny left no stone unturned to keep the audience captivated with his rib tickling jokes and presence of mind. Carol D’Souza thanked all the sponsors and Arun D'Souza honored and felicitated them with a floral bouquet. The judges were also felicitated with shawls and mementos. Contestants were felicitated with certificates and mementos by Judges Bab Eric Ozario and Rony D’Cunha. The compere Dony Correa was felicitated with a floral bouquet and memento by Arun D’Souza.

The competition began with the curtain-raiser song "Gulf Voice of Mangalore". The cultural programme began with a foot thumping dance performance by the talented and enthusiastic Karan Raj and Kiran Raj Nazareth (Udupi), Rishon Fernandes (Shirthady), the sister’s duo Jennessa and Jinnelle D’Souza, Group dance performance by Jishal, Ashmitha, Crishal and Melissa was ecstatic More colour was added by the AKR Riyadh ladies Trupthi, Carol, Celine, Sarala, Fredline and Freeda pumped up the adrenaline as they danced to a foot tapping number “Undra Muja Mama - Whistle Mar". They left the audience asking for more!

The crowd went hysterical right from the word go as they watched a comedy show called " Soro" staged by Herald D’Souza (Mudarangadi) and Carol D’Souza (Urva). They left the audience laughing for a very long time adding fun and a dash of happiness inside the hall.

Dony Correa amused the audience with his witty and original jokes. Eric Ozario, Rony D’Cunha, Roshan Rodrigues, Dony Correa and Pride of Arabia Vanessa mesmerized the audience as they set the stage on fire. The atmosphere at the venue changed as they sang melodies Konkani numbers that had the audience on their feet. It was an opportunity never to be missed. The lively atmosphere finally dispersed to the dining area where delicious food was awaiting the guests.

On this occasion Lawrence D’Souza's “Istageeth” Konkani CD was launched by Eric Ozario, Rony D’Cunha, Kevin and Mueral Nazareth along with Arun D’Souza.

Saritha D’Souza of Aangann Konknnechem proposed the vote of thanks. The programme came to an end with the announcement of the winners of the Voice of Arabia contest. While everyone in the auditorium waited with bated breath for the results, the announcement itself was splendid, not just because of the deafening applause that followed it, but also because of the expression of triumph as well as intense emotion that it brought upon the face of the winners. It was indeed an evening to cherish for a very long time.

ROSHAL RODRIGUES, PRAMILA RODRIGUES QUALIFY FOR GVOM-4 FINALS

Riyadh, Sep 22: The semi-final round of the Gulf Voice of Mangalore Season 4 proved every bit to be an entertaining as well as a nail-biting contest, at the end of which Roshan Philip Rodrigues, Bendur (Gavngo Chedva Muzo Gavngo) and Pramila Rodrigues, Udupi (Muja Kalzachi Haryek Udi) were declared as "Voice of Arabia".

The GVOM 2014 semi-final was organized by Aangann Konknnechem Riyadh on Friday September 19. The winners will now expand their horizon of singing talent and put their skills to test at the grand finale which will be held on November 7 in Muscat.

The six female contestants were Shallet D'Silva (Bendur), Nirmala Castelino (Shankarpura), Chinnu D'Souza (Bantwal), Mridula Dias (Barkur), Inish Fernandes (Mudrangadi) and Pramila Rodrigues (Udupi) along with six male contestants Roshan Philip Rodrigues (Bendur), Jerald Rodrigues (Gurpur), Ambrose Corderio (Venoor), Lancy Lasrado (Bantwal), Vincent Moras (Barkur) and Alfred Fernandes Sirsi were escorted to the stage by the secretary and co-ordinator of Aangann team Roshan Glen Lobo and Carol D'Souza and were introduced to the crowd by compere Ronald Olivera. Carol D’Souza, Mangalore thanked all the sponsors and Arun D'Souza honored and felicitated them on stage with a Shawl and a floral bouquet. The judges were also felicitated with shawls and mementoes. The compere and contestants were felicitated with mementos as well.

No dance is complete without a touch of Indianess to it, and rightly so we were spellbound by a Bharatnatyam dance performance by Sharon and Shalom Fernandes (Shirthady). More colour was added by the black and white 'Robot Dance' number performed by the youngsters from " Brothers Group" Riyadh. The children had carved a place for themselves among the audience with their electrifying performances. It was indeed a treat for sore eyes!

The adults were not far behind. A rib tickling skit ‘Dunga’ was put together by Herald D’Souza (Mudrangadi), Inish Fernandes (Mudarangadi) and Roshan Lobo (Bondel) had everyone laughing their hearts out. Riyadh: Twelve make it to semi-finals of GVOM Season 4

Riyadh, Jun 16: 'Aangann Konknnechem Riyadh' organized the auditions of Gulf Voice of Mangalore Season 4 on Friday June 13 together with 'Konknnecho Dees 2014'. It was a memorable day for the Konkani speaking community in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The morning session began with sumptuous breakfast followed by registrations by participants. Ten male and nine female contestants registered for the auditions.

The male contestants were Amith Noronha, Vincent Cyril Moras, Jerald Maxim Rodrigues, Ronald Dias, Roshan Philip Rodrigues, Ambrose Corderio, Jason Cardoza, Lancy Lasrado, Alfred Fernandes and Kevin Furtado.

Shallet D'Silva, Janet D’Souza, Carol D’Souza, Pramila Rodrigues, Inish Greenha Fernandes, Chinnu D'Souza, Nirmala Castelino, Cecelia Lobo and Mridula Shalini Dias were the female contestants. 

 

 The event was inaugurated by sponsors Flossy and Anil Albuquerque, Muriel and Kevin Nazareth and Arun D'Souza Palimar, president of Aangann Konknechem Riyadh by lighting the lamp.

Arun D'Souza addressed and thanked the audience and sponsors for their support towards Konknnecho Dees 2014 and GVOM 4 auditions.

The programme began with a devotional dance by Stevina D'Souza, Palimar to the tune of 'Soglya Srochticha Rochnara'.

The auditions began with female participants followed by male participants.

The judges for the event were Frankline D'Costa and Stephen Rodrigues.

Frankline D'Costa, a senior systems analyst working for Ejada Solutions and presently, a banking software consultant for Riyadh Bank. He has been in Riyadh for the last 13 years. His interests include music, finance and movies. He has done his formal musical education from the Associated Board of the Royal School of Music London.

 

Stephen Rodrigues is mechanical wngineer working as a section head Anabeeb Jubail since 20 years. His interests are in music, drama as well as singing.

The sponsors were felicitated by Carol D'Souza, Urva. The contentants of the audition round of GVOM 4 and other participants of the Cultural program of Konknnecho Dees were felicitated by Flossy and Anil Albuquerque and Muriel and Kevin Nazareth by awarding certificates and mementos. The judges Frankline D'Costa and Stephen Rodrigues were felicitated by Arun D'Souza.

 

The 6 male and 6 female finalists of the GVOM4 audition were announced by Secretary of AKR Glen Roshan Lobo, Bondel who was also the MC for the event.

 


The finalists are as follows:

 

Male: Vincent Cyril Moras, Jerald Maxim Rodrigues, Roshan Philip Rodrigues, Ambrose Corderio, Lancy Lasrado and Alfred Fernandes.

Female: Shallet D'Silva, Pramila Rodrigues, Inish Greenha Fernandes, Chinnu D'Souza, Nirmala Castelino and Mridula Shalini Dias.

On September 19, Riyadh will witness the semi-final round of ‘Gulf Voice of Mangalore 4’. The male and female winner of the semi-final round will be crowned "Voice of Arabia" and they will represent Saudi Arabia in the finals of GVOM-4 in November. The grand finals will be on Friday, November 7 at Grande Hall of Al Falaj Hotel – Ruwi, Sultanate of Oman under MCCP Muscat.

 

The afternoon session of Nach-Gayan-Natkulyancho Mael/Konknecho Dees 2014 started with a foot thumping dance performance by budding dancers Stevina D'Souza Palimar, Caron Reena D'Souza Mudarangadi, Alisha Corderio Venoor. Megha Riya Shirva enthralled the audience with her mesmerising Bharatnatyam dance performance. Sisters duo Geshal and Chrishal Mendonca Mudarangadi and Melissa Paula joined in to keep the crowd entertained. Popular "Lungi Dance" was performed by Karan Raj, Kiran Raj Nazareth Udupi, Prathik, Manoj and Kavya. Talented Sharon, Shalom and Rishon Fernandes Shirthady kept the audience wanting for more as they entertained the crowd with their keyboard performance and dances. Abhi Harishankar entertained the guests with a jaw dropping performance of the popular number “What does the fox say" while Adarsh Harishankar danced to a foot tapping Tamil number. The duo are from "Brothers Riyadh".
Adults were not far behind. A rib tickling skit ‘Bail’ was put together by Ambrose Corderio, Venoor and Norbert Dias, Bondel had everyone laughing their hearts out. Comedy show was staged by Norbert Dias, Alwyn Alwares and Glen Roshan Lobo, Bondel added to the fun and frolic.

 

The various Konkani Associations in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia like Saudi Konkann Association Riyadh (SKAR), Grace Riyadh, Saudi Konkann Youngsters (SKY) Dammam, United Konkani Catholic Association (UKCA) Jeddah who participated in "Konknecho Dees 2014" were felicitated and awarded mementos by the president of Aangann Konknnechem Riyadh (AKR).

Saritha D Souza, Palimar delivered the vote of thanks. Delicious lunch was served to all.
